Research Data Sharing Policy
Medicine and Public Health is committed to fostering transparency, reproducibility, and the broad dissemination of research. The journal strongly encourages authors to make the research data supporting their findings publicly available whenever legally and ethically possible.
Commitment to Open Research
Sharing research data enhances the robust verification of research results and enables the academic community to build upon existing work. The journal supports responsible open research practices while recognising that some datasets may be subject to ethical, legal, contractual, or privacy-related restrictions.
Authors are encouraged to make data available in a way that is transparent, durable, properly documented, and consistent with applicable legal and ethical requirements.
Data Repositories and FAIR Principles
Authors are recommended to deposit their datasets in recognised, publicly accessible data repositories that align with the FAIR principles:
Recommended repositories include, for example, Zenodo, Figshare, Harvard Dataverse, Mendeley Data, or dedicated institutional repositories.
Whenever possible, data should be provided in non-proprietary and reusable formats, such as .csv or .txt, to support long-term accessibility and reuse.
Data Availability Statement
All submitted manuscripts must include a Data Availability Statement placed before the References section. This statement should explain whether and how the data used in the study can be accessed.
Authors should use one of the following templates:
Data publicly available
The data presented in this study are openly available in [repository name] at [DOI or permanent URL].
Data available on request
The data supporting the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request. [Optional: Specify the reason restrictions apply, e.g., due to privacy concerns].
Third-party data
Restrictions apply to the availability of these data. Data were obtained from [third party] and are available [from the authors / at URL] with the permission of [third party].
No new data created
No new data were created or analysed in this study. Data sharing is not applicable to this article.
Data restricted due to ethical or legal reasons
The data are not publicly available due to [state specific ethical, legal, or privacy restrictions, e.g., containing sensitive medical information or identifiable human data].
Data Citation
If authors use existing datasets or share their own, the datasets must be formally cited in the text and included in the reference list, just like a standard literature citation. The reference should include the author(s), publication year, dataset title, data repository, and a persistent identifier, such as a DOI.
