Peer Review Process
Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to European Polygraph by their respective authors undergo preliminary assessment by the Editor-in-Chief.
The preliminary assessment results in a decision whether to send the manuscript for independent peer review or to return it to the author with the information that it will not be considered for publication.
Review Procedure
1. The journal applies a double-blind peer-review procedure. The names of reviewers are not disclosed to authors, and the names of authors are not disclosed to reviewers.
2. Two independent reviewers are appointed by the Editor-in-Chief or by the Deputy Editor following consultation with the Editor-in-Chief.
3. The following persons cannot act as independent reviewers: the Editor-in-Chief, the Deputy Editor-in-Chief, employees of Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University, and persons whose papers are published in the issue containing the manuscript under review.
4. The review should answer the question whether the reviewed manuscript is suitable for publication and whether it requires any amendments. If amendments are required, the reviewer should clearly state what they are. The review must be prepared in written form and conclude with an unequivocal recommendation concerning publication or rejection of the manuscript.
5. If one of the reviewers provides comments or suggests amendments but does not recommend rejection of the manuscript, the Editor forwards the comments to the author, asking for the author’s response and, where appropriate, a revised version of the manuscript.
6. If the opinions of the author and reviewer diverge, the decision to accept the manuscript, request further revisions, appoint an additional reviewer, or reject the manuscript is made by the Editor.
7. In the case referred to above, before making the final decision, the Editor-in-Chief may appoint another independent reviewer.
8. In exceptional cases, when significant scholarly or methodological circumstances justify such a decision, and the Editors do not agree with a reviewer’s recommendation, the Editors may decide to continue the editorial procedure or accept the manuscript contrary to a reviewer’s recommendation only after providing a documented editorial justification and, where appropriate, obtaining an additional independent review.
9. Book reviews and reports are not subject to external peer review. The decision to publish them is the responsibility of the Editors.
